Trying Not To Freak Out.....

I went to the dr to get my unfill which the pa happily did. However she did say that she wanted me to get an upperGI just to make sure everything was ok.

No problem, the hospital had an opening in 30 minutes so I walked across the street and signed in. I do the upper GI and after the dr asked me to lift my left boob because he couldn't get a clear picture (can we say boob lift needed in the near future), he told me that it looks as though my band has slipped and he was sure that my dr would contact me soon.

It took every inch of my control to keep from bursting into tears right there. So I left and marched my happy ass back across the street to find out what this means.
The pa saw me coming and took me right back to a room. Apparently they had already called her and shared the results.

She said that it wasn't a slip like needing surgery to repair slip. What they do is empty the band completely and give the stomach time to move back down below the band. This takes one week, we do another upper GI, and if everything is ok we start to slowly fill again.

To say that I am upset and disappointed is an understatement but I have no choice but to get over it. Here's hoping that this works. I am currently sitting here with no restriction AT ALL. And as unrealistic as it may sound I am so afraid that I will gain all 90 lbs back in one week. Let's pray I don't!

About to unveil my business at the lady dr so I have to put the phone down.

Could this day get any better?

More later.

OMG - I went through almost the same thing last year. I was overfilled and having pain, this was after an upper GI that the tech was unsure about. They unfilled me right away and had me get another upper GI and see the surgeon. I was terrified, in the end my surgeon looked at the original and 2nd films and didn't see a slip, so I got most of my fill back.
I know I didn't have a slip, but I totally understand what you're feeling. It should be fine and you WON'T gain it back. Email me if you need to talk.

I am so sorry. Don't freak out to much though. Hopefully this will be all you need to do, and be better for it in a week. hand in there!

Well....I guess the day can't get any worse.....no, I'm sorry, I'm supposed to say something comforting but you're at the lady dr getting felt up! I'm just wondering if that made your day better or worse? lmao.

no, let me be serious. you cannot possibly gain back 90 pounds in one week. i'm sure you have concerns about not having any restriction but this is just a temporary hurdle. just a wee bitty detour.

Hang in there honey! You just do what they tell you to do and as hard as it is, try not to project. We're all here for you!!! Big Hug!

At least it was caught before it got too bad. Hang in there, it'll be OK.

SUCKS.
BUT, I like to see the glass 1/2 full soo...at least your surgeon was cautious! Thank goodness they found it in time and it didn't cause a true slip. THIS? you can handle.
It's going to be OK. You'll be hungry (and that sucks, but it's doable) so eat healthy, filling foods. You are NOT going to gain back 90 lbs. or even a fraction of that in a short amount of time. You're going to be ok.
And just so you know, I'd have totally freaked too. And I WOULD have cried. So, see how strong you are?
Hugs

oh Angela, i'm so sorry..that totally stinks..but i am so glad that they caught it early. You will be ok, get through this and will not gain it all back...I'm so sorry you are dealing with this and sending good vibes your way!

Oh man this totally sucks! But as others have said - it's good they caught it before it got truly bad and it's something that can be dealt with so quickly.

Of course your rational self knows you won't gain back all 90lbs in a week. In all this time with the band you've been extremely successful. And that's in part because you've learned to eat differently. Will you be more hungry - yep, I'm sure you will be. But can you fall back on all you've learned about which things make you fullest for the longest - of course you can. You will survive this week and learn a bit more about just how strong you are!! You go girl, you can do it!

So sorry to hear this, but I have been there. Except I had to have a full until and wait an entire MONTH to get any fill back. It took a few months to get back to good restriction, but it was worth it. I wouldn't want to risk my band! You will do fine! Just try to stick to good portions.

You'll be fine and so will your band. Hang in there.
